Our Mission
Mission:The Minnesota Youth Outreach Organization's mission is to provide accessible and organized sports programs for youth, with a special focus on the East African community. The organization offers a variety of sports, including basketball, soccer, volleyball, and adapted sports for children with disabilities, aiming to promote physical skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, resilience, leadership, and self-discipline. The programs serve as an alternative to risky behaviors, fostering positive relationships, community support, and life skills that extend beyond the sports field. In addition to sports, the organization is committed to the overall well-being of youth and their families. It provides transportation services, healthy meals, and tutoring to ensure that youth have the resources to succeed academically and socially. Specialized programs for children with disabilities are also offered, ensuring inclusivity and support for all participants. By addressing the diverse needs of youth, the organization fosters an environment that encourages growth in both athletics and personal development.
Our Vision
Vision:Our vision is to build a community where youth, particularly from the East African community, grow up as skilled athletes and compassionate, resilient leaders. Through sports programs, leadership development, and mentorship, we aim to equip young people with the mental, emotional, and physical tools to succeed in any environment. These youth will embody leadership qualities like discipline, integrity, and teamwork, excelling in athletics and taking on roles of leadership in their schools, communities, and beyond. By teaching values of perseverance, respect, and responsibility, we envision them driving positive change, advocating for social justice, and inspiring others. Our long-term goal is to empower a network of East African leaders who will serve as role models and advocates for a more just, equitable, and thriving society.Central to this vision is the belief in the power of strong families to build resilient communities. We aim to ensure every family has access to resources like healthy food, mental health support, transportation, academic assistance, and recreational opportunities. Our programs provide support to families facing challenges, creating environments where children can thrive physically, emotionally, and academically. We view families as critical partners in the development of youth, offering programs that foster family involvement and strengthen bonds. Ultimately, our vision is to create a cohesive community where youth, families, and neighbors collaborate to overcome challenges and build a better future, addressing systemic issues like poverty, violence, and inequality.
